New York's 50 Millionth Visitor

As thousands of people travel this holiday season, New York is celebrating their 50 millionth visitor this year. An article on Yahoo! reports that New York has had over 50.2 million tourists a year. Out of that 50.2 million only 10.1 are from the United States while the remainder comes from abroad. The biggest foreign contingents, with one million visitors, were the Britons.

The 50 millionth visitor turned out to be newlyweds Craig and Lucy Johnson from Britain. These two love birds were approached by Mayor Michael Bloomberg who awarded them with a “$10,000 gift card for this trip and a $10,000 package of gift cards to visit and spend money in famous stores and at Broadway shows again in 2012”.

Bloomberg stated, “New York City’s quality of life has contributed to this great success and we are confident we will sustain the success of our tourism industry in the months and years ahead”.
